This is a great book for kids, as they will be able to better understand their own emotions!

While I have yet to see the Inside Out movie, this was a great retelling of the movie from the perspectives of the characters. I loved seeing the differences between the characters and so did my girls. It was so unique to see how you see the world in different ways based on what emotion is seeing the situation. This is a great book for kids, as they will be able to better understand their own emotions!

This is a gorgeous hard-cover book my kids like looking at. It's a bit above their age range, but would be the perfect gift for a school-age child working to sort out all the emotions they are dealing with!

then Disgust, then Fear

I would give it three and a half stars.to four.
I assume it tells the whole movie story but just paraphrasing. The whole book is about the five emotions first-person point of views of the story. It goes from Joy's point of view of the story, then Disgust, then Fear, then Anger, and then Sadness. Although the concept was original, It was not necessary to have all the emotions point of views. I can understand Joy's and Sadness's retelling because they are the main characters of the plot.
But, the other three were just retelling of the same story (Of them without Joy and Sadness) only with some small changes. It became extremely boring but I read through them. To make it more boring it was all in paraphrase and not a feeling of individual stories. Plus, the book was too long and stretch everything except the main characters stories.
I wish it went from Joy and Sadness to short few pages of the other three or had them all together and use third person omniscient.

This handbook led to our most successful auction ever!

My non-profit has been holding a silent auction at our annual fundraiser for years, and we thought we knew what we were doing, but noticed that we weren't increasing our earnings by much year over year, despite being given higher-value items to auction. We had this book sitting around in our files, but no one felt like they had the time to read it. Well, I finally decided that it was time to break it out, and I am glad that I did! It was an easy read, and I found myself emailing excerpts to my colleagues as I read, sparking great conversations about how we were handling things. We had long debated changing the format of the auction, revamping our bid sheets, etc.. and the handbook gave us straight-forward guidance on how to make those changes without over-complicating things and confusing our potential donors. We were able to make some small modifications and this year had the smoothest and highest-earning auction to date. Next year we will be incorporating even more of the suggestions from the handbook, and look forward to even more success than this year. Thanks Joe for another great guide!

I am on a committee as assistant chairperson to plan a silent auction this coming November. This book has been invaluable to me from what to cover at the first committee meeting which is taking place this month to the suggestion of having a place for bidding on the mission needs itself. About the Author
Dr. William H. Hoffman, Jr., earned B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Michigan and M.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from The University of Texas. He is a licensed CPA and attorney in Texas. His teaching experience includes The University of Texas (1957-1961), Louisiana State University (1961-1967), and the University of Houston (1967-1999). Dr. Hoffman has addressed many tax institutes and conferences and has published extensively in academic and professional journals. His articles appear in THE JOURNAL OF TAXATION, THE TAX ADVISER, TAXES ? THE TAX MAGAZINE, THE JOURNAL OF ACCOUNTANCY, THE ACCOUNTING REVIEW, and TAXATION FOR ACCOUNTANTS.

David M. Maloney, Ph.D., CPA, is the Carman G. Blough Professor of Accounting at the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Richmond and his graduate work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Since joining the Virginia faculty in January 1984, Professor Maloney has taught federal taxation in the graduate and undergraduate programs and has received major research grants from the Ernst & Young and KPMG Foundations. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Accounting Association and the American Taxation Association.

William A. Raabe, Ph.D., CPA, teaches graduate tax courses at the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University and at the Capital University (OH) Law School. He is a leader among business school tax faculty in incorporating developments in technology into curricula for the educational development of tax professionals. Dr. Raabe's teaching and research interests focus on multijurisdictional taxation and financial planning, and he is recognized as the leader among business school academics in the fields of state and local income, sales, and property taxation. Dr. Raabe is the author or editor of approximately twenty books, including this text, SCHEDULE M-3 COMPLIANCE, and the MULTISTATE CORPORATE TAX GUIDE. He has received university-wide recognition as the winner of the AMOCO Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence, and the Wisconsin Institute of CPAs named him the Educator of the Year.

Dr. James C. Young is the Crowe Horwath Professor of Accountancy at Northern Illinois University. A graduate of Ferris State University (B.S.) and Michigan State University (M.B.A. and Ph.D.), Dr. Young's research focuses on taxpayer responses to the income tax using archival data. His dissertation received the PricewaterhouseCoopers/American Taxation Association Dissertation Award, and his subsequent research has received funding from a number of organizations including the Ernst & Young Foundation Tax Research Grant Program. His work has been published in a variety of academic and professional journals including the NATIONAL TAX JOURNAL, THE JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN TAXATION ASSOCIATION, and TAX NOTES. Dr. Young was named a Northern Illinois University Presidential Teaching Professor in 2007, and he has received outstanding teaching awards from George Mason University and Michigan State University.

It is what it says it is

This is the professional edition of South Western Federal Taxation 2014 Comprehensive Volume, hardcover. Been trying to get this textbook for a class for several weeks and some listings don't describe it truthfully (loose leaf, digital access code, etc.). I have yet to see what is different about the Professional edition, although if you register the book you get content updates when the tax code changes - maybe that is it. This is the standard in tax books, and is something you will use for years to come as a current student purchasing it. You will probably have multiple tax classes in your life and a great reference book is handy for personal reasons too. I advise you to buy a physical copy such as this as opposed to "renting" access to a web-based ebook.

Great Intro Tax Text

Great book. Not an easy read, you have to read the chapters very carefully, but I love the format of the text and solved problems within the narrative of each chapter. I don't know of many books that have this format. I didn't buy this book from Amazon, I bought it directly from the publisher as a binder version. The binder version is not the same as the hardback version and it caused quite a mess for me - my instructor would assign problems and I was doing the wrong ones. The chapters in the binder version are completely different (Chapter 12 in the hardback is Chapter 15 in the binder.) Perhaps if I'd bought it from Amazon I could have saved myself a lot of trouble. Anyhow, this is a great book. I recommend it to anyone and it looks like the gold standard for intro tax texts!

This book never fails to impress. It has all the new guidelines for each new tax year. Its clear and concise and a great tax reference for newer and experienced accountants. I buy this book every year and I am never disappointed.

About the Author
Larry J. Siegel was born in the Bronx in 1947. While living on Jerome Avenue and attending City College of New York (CCNY) in the 1960s, he was swept up in the social and political currents of the time. He became intrigued with the influence contemporary culture had on individual behavior: Did people shape society or did society shape people? He applied his interest in social forces and human behavior to the study of crime and justice. After graduating from CCNY, he attended the criminal justice program at the State University of New York at Albany, earning his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees there. Dr. Siegel began his teaching career at Northeastern University and has also held teaching positions at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire, and in the School of Criminology and Justice Studies at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell (UML). Now a Professor Emeritus, he continues to teach courses on criminology and criminal justice in UML'S online master's degree program. Dr. Siegel has written extensively in the area of crime and justice, including books on juvenile law, delinquency, criminology, corrections, criminal justice, and criminal procedure. He is a court certified expert on police conduct and has testified in numerous legal cases.

Brandon C. Welsh is a Professor of Criminology at Northeastern University and Senior Research Fellow at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement in Amsterdam. He received his Ph.D. from Cambridge University in England. His research interests focus on the prevention of crime and delinquency and evidence-based social policy. Dr. Welsh has published extensively in these areas and is an author or editor of ten books.

Very pleased

In my opinion this book is very interesting. I'm criminal justice law student and I've read lot of textbooks for my classes. Compared to other criminal justice books this book does not just give boring skew rates and tell you what to do. It gives you actual interesting examples. It is well organized. I'm telling you I'm not the happiest person when I have to read textbook but I always look forward to reading this one since I've only read two chapters. I also like its hard cover which allows me to read without any worries that I have to hold my book up straight. ☺️

Great intro to Juvenile Justice

There are personal real-life stories in here that will make you question why someone is labeled delinquent. About the Author
Author and Artist - Dianne Ireland is among the Canadian baby boomers, growing up on a farm east of Grimshaw, Alberta, Canada, a northern community with a population of approximately 2600. Born in Peace River, Alberta; educated in Grimshaw; married in 1968; and raised her children on an acreage in a farming community. Dianne owned and operated a consulting business for several years. Finally, enjoying a past time of painting and then writing a cookbook, from her collection of treasured recipes, incorporating memorable stories of life on the farm. Dianne has introduced pieces of her artwork within her first published book. She and her husband now reside in Peace River, AB.
